Catharine Huey,wife of William Harper III,was called Katie but signed her name Catharine.She was the daughter of Hercules Huey,Jr. and his wife the former Isabella Smith.
Hercules Huey,Jr.,was the son of Hercules and Catharine Persee(Adams)Huey who migrated to america and settled in what is now Lancaster County before the revolutionary war.Hercules born in Ireland in 1725 died in Lancaster (Camden) in 1775,aged 50 years.His wife,the former Catherine Persee (whose first husband was an adams) was born in 1728 in Ireland and died in Lancaster District November 16,1808,aged 80.The stone erected to their memory in the Waxhaw Presbyterian Church Cemetery where they were buried is a double stone which bears the following inscription:
SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF

Who died,Sept 1775 Who died
aged 50 years Nov.16,1808
aged 80 years.
This monument is erected by Hercules Huey their son.
According to Huey family history,Hercules Huey,Sr.,was the son of James and Margaret Ellis Huey.Margaret Ellis was sister to Lord hercules Ellis of Antrim,Ireland.James huey was born near Londonderry,Antrim,Ireland about 1680.The Hueys (Huets) left France about 1660 and settled in Ireland.Catherine was the daughter of Sir.Richard Persee of Ireland.The will of Hercules Huey,Sr.,is on file in the Kershaw County Wills.He died,as shown on the tombstone in 1775 just before the revolutionary war.In his will he named the following children:Alexander,John,James,Arculeas(hercules,jr.),Mary and Eleasebeth Huey and stepchildren,Margaret and Abram Adams.
William settled in three miles of the town of Lankister and lived there until he died in year of 1831.Catharine left SC in the fall of 1833 and settled in Harris County,Ga and sold out in 1837 and moved to Sumter County.Settled on the place that Wm.Dozier now lives and died there.Harkless(Hercules) Huey and Isabella raised ten children.Oldest was Sam married Sally Hagins settled in Harris County,Ga.,James md.Mary Smith,Harris Co.,Ga.John and Alexxander do not who they married.Joe got burned to death when he was 21 years.Alex md and lived in SC.Catharine md.William Harper.Sally md John Sibley lived in SC,several years moved to Macon County,Al.Margaret md. John McMerray had one child McMerry died child name John after his father.She then married William Deen.Nancy md. William Woods.Mary md. William Hinkle moved from SC to Miss.The harpers and Hueys all belonged to Shiloh Presbyterian Church in SC.

"I Hercules Huey, (Hughey), being weak of Body but sound of Mind and Judgment Do make this my last will and Testament in the manner and form folling... Secondly I do give and bequeath to my well beloved Wife Cathren Hughey and my six children, Alexander,John,James,and Hercules, Mary and Elizabeth all my real and personal Estates, Shear and Shear (Share)like Except one cow to my son and Daughter Aprahan and Margaret Adams (these are Katherine's children by her first husband Adams) . Thirdly I do order My Wife and family to live on the Plantation together that I now live upon on Cain Creek untill they come of age and if Mary and Elizabeth should die before they come of Age, their peart of the land is to go to the rest and when they are of age they are to have no land and if my son Alexander comes from Ireland and what money he brings with him or goods of my property he is to deliver them up to Executor or he is to have no Peart of My Estate heare..."

In the name of God Amean I Herculeas Hughey Being Weak of Bodey but of sound Mind and Judgment Do Make this my Last will and Tastment in the Manner and form following------
first of all I give My Soul to God ho give it me and my Body to be Buried in A Christian Menner as my Executors Shal think fit.
Secondly I Do give and Bequeth to My Well Beloved Wife Cattren Hughey and My Six Childer Alexander John James and Arculeas Mary and Eleasebth all My Real and Personal Estates Shear and Shear a Like Except one Cow to My Son and Daughter Abrham and Margaret Adams,
Thirdly I Do order my Wife and family to Live on the Plantation together that I now Live upon on Oain [Cain] Creek until they Come of age, and if Mary and Eleasebth Should Die before they Come of age their Peart of the Land is to go to the Rest and when they are of age they are to have no Land, and if my son Alexander Comes from Irland and what money he Brings with him or goods of my Property he is to Deliver them up to my Executor or he is to have No Peart of my Estate heare and if my wife Do Marrey She is to have No Shear in any of my Estates save her Bed and Close---
