George served in the Civil War, Co H 19th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, 1861-1864. His pension papers describe him as "6 ft., 2 in., in height, complexion light, eyes blue, hair brown." In 1909 ,his pension papers stated that in 1861 his "sister" Jane Temple-Peasley owned the family records copied from the Temple family Bible 1861", when George established his birthdate for enlisting in OVI.We have taken George's children's names from his pension papers and federal census for Union Co., Ohio, 1880 and 1900.
