He appeared in the census in June 1860 in Washington Twp., Franklin, OH.14071 James served in the military in 1863/4.15901 Served with the Ohio Volunteer Infantry Company, 60th Regiment. Commissioned 1st Lt. 1 Feb 1863. He died on4 June 1864 at the age of 16 in Hanover Co., VA.15901 Died at the battle of Cold Harbor, 10 miles NE of Richmond in the Civil War. This was part of the Feb-Mar 1864 campaign of Kilpatrick's in Virginia, intended to rescue prisoners in Richmond.
