This was the last model year Pontiac produced the TRANS AM with the 6.6 Liter engine. Starting in 1980 the largest engine you could put in a TRANS AM was a 5 Liter. The "BLACKBIRD SE" option was only available with a "Black on Black" color combination (duh?). It included a performance suspension package consisting of heavy duty springs, shocks, anti-sway bars and close ratio power steering, and included many of the "luxury items" Pontiac had to offer in 79 such as intermittent windshield wipers, power windows, cloth bucket seats, power door locks, remote trunk release, Gold 'Arrowhead" emblem on the front nose, gold snowflake wheels and oh yea, the big gold bird on the hood.
